Massage Therapy Styles

Shiatsu - An eastern style massage, literally trans-lating to “finger pressure,” consists of direct pressure being applied to certain points along the body’s meridians, or energy lines, to provide both physical and emotional release.

Swedish - A classic western massage, both nurturing and beneficial; includes gliding strokes aimed towards the heart, helping to increase venous blood flow as well as lymphatic function- while also relieving muscular tension.

Thai Massage - This style has its roots in Ayurveda, and consists of yoga postures assisted by the practitioner, with applied acupressure techniques. Can be done on a mat or table. Loose clothing should be worn.

Prenatal - Tailored to meet the needs of mommies-to-be, nurturing massage is provided in a mostly Swedish style.

Hot Stone Therapy - Exactly as it is described, using hot basalt stones to melt away muscular tension, this type of therapy can provide immense relaxation for the
client as well as amazing detoxifying and therapeutic results. Please let us know in advance if you would like this treatment.

Deep Tissue - Accessing the deeper layers of muscular connective tissue, or Fascia, Deep Tissue is generally performed with fists, forearms or elbows; slow, careful pres-sure is applied to provide deep release.

David Brown, CMT
Growing up David always loved working with his hand and was fascinated with how things worked, especially the human body. There was something about how someone’s hands could infect a change in a persons body that as-tonished him. After going to school to become an auto technician, David realized massage therapy was the right path for him. In 2010 David Brown graduated from The National Holistic Institute. Knowing there was so much more to learn, David decided to continue his learning and enrolled in there advanced program for Neuro-muscular Therapy at NHI. In May of 2011 David will have completed 1120 hours of massage training. David specializes in Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial therapy, sports massage, neuromuscular therapy, and tense and relax stretches. He also practices Shiatsu, Thai and pre-natal massage.
