HOT YOGA TEACHER TRAINING AT FUNKY DOOR YOGA

We are excited to offer this unique teacher training, June 22nd - July 31, 2026. Our extensive program is designed to provide you with all the tools, knowledge, and techniques necessary to become a confident and effective hot yoga teacher.

Study anatomy and how it affects the postures in your body; how to teach and practice all the postures; learn extensive yoga therapy for injuries and health problems, chronic and otherwise; dive into the history and lineage of yoga, as well as the business of running a yoga studio. There is also an emphasis on teacher development and ongoing support after you leave training.

This program is designed for people who want to become a yoga teacher, or existing yoga teachers who want to expand their knowledge, and for people who want to supercharge their personal yoga practice.

Enroll today for this 6-week on-site training with renowned senior teachers from all over the world. Training runs Monday-Friday, typically 8am-6pm. You will be practicing two yoga classes per day as well as daily workshops. Individualized training with daily group and one-one-one feedback sessions.

Funky Door Yoga Berkeley has two large unique yoga rooms with state-of-the-art heating and ventilation systems. Spacious locker rooms with showers and plenty of room to keep your personal items safe. One-of-a-kind signature art work from famed illustrator Ed Renfro adorns the studio walls. People travel from all over the world to practice at Funky Door Yoga. 

OUR TEAM

Lynn Whitlow has been teaching for over thirty years and has built up her skills and reputation to be considered a master teacher and leader in the hot yoga/fitness community.  She has studied with some of the top yoga masters to deepen her knowledge and expertise, immersing herself in the culture and traditions that she continues to pass on to others.

​She has owned 8 hot yoga/fitness studios throughout Northern California. Lynn was a key figure and lead trainer at the Bikram Yoga Headquarters in Los Angeles and has continued to travel extensively throughout the United States and the world to host workshops and master classes. Lynn serves on the board of USA Yoga and is the International Yoga Sports Federation (IYSF) Head Judge.

Tereza Bonnet Šenková: Posture Principles. Tereza is a former contemporary dancer who performed at the Moulin Rouge in Paris. She has a Bachelor's degree in pedagogy and methodology of movement and dance from Academy Of Performing Arts in Prague. In 2005, she became a certified Bikram Yoga teacher, taught in Paris, then chose to bring the Original Hot Yoga to Prague, Czech Republic, where she currently owns two successful hot yoga schools. Tereza has organized many national and European championships. She is the Head of the technical committee of IYSF and leads the work on the posture guidelines.

Hana Persson: Anatomy Principles. Hana completed Bikram's teacher training in Khao Lak, Thailand in 2015. Since then she has been practicing daily and has taught classes all over the world. ​Hana competed in her first yoga competition in 2015 and was the Swedish and Nordic champion in 2018, 2019 and 2020. She also placed 4th in the 2020 IYSF Virtual Yoga Asana Championship. Together with her husband Erik Persson, she has been coaching Swedish yoga athletes since 2018.Hana has a bachelor’s degree in both Anatomy and Psychology and presented the Anatomy content for IYSF A-level coaching.

Christian Scaraglino: Yoga History & Lineage. After experiencing the benefits of hot yoga Christian completed the Bikram teacher training in Los Angeles in November 2002. In 2006 and 2007, he competed in three International Yoga Sports Championships and then began judging competitions in 2008. He is currently an A-level Certified Judge at IYSF. In 2019 Christian organized the first Nordic Yoga Sports Championship in Malmö, Sweden and is the founding member of the Swedish Yoga Sports Federation.

Cintra Brown : Yoga Philosophy. Cintra is a pioneer in the world of the Original Hot Yoga series earning her teaching credential in 1987, making her one of the most experienced teachers in the world. Cintra also holds a rare certificate from the Ghosh College of Physical Education in Kolkata, India. She opened the first hot yoga studio in Phoenix, Arizona in 1992 as well as the first hot yoga studio in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Cintra is an International Yoga Judge and continues to travel the world teaching classes.

Lisa Ingle Stevens has been teaching yoga for 20 years and lives for providing tools to others in order to live their best lives  She holds yoga certifications in Bikram Yoga, Power Yoga, Yin, Meditation and Hot Yoga.  She is certified through PAX and Lightyear Leadership in order to provide transformational tools to support our mental fitness as well.  Lisa has taught and lead leadership development programs for the past 18 years and is the Co-Founder of The Union Yoga, Fitness and Fun in San Antonio, Texas. In 2019 she created The U-Institute, a leadership development and yoga teacher training company that allows her to meld her 2 passions of mental and physical health. 

Kim Tang has worn the hats of yoga student, yoga teacher, studio owner, presenter, demonstrator, five-time California State Champion, and six-time nationally-ranked competitor.  She has comprehensively coached dozens of competitors on all levels on regional, national and international stages. Her precise and individualized method of coaching involves attainment /solidification of posture, performance execution, and fluid and seamless choreography. She has served as judge for USA Yoga and IYSF, further assisting in judging and coaching clinics in service to these organizations.

Jeff Renfro has a parallel practice of Iyengar and Bikram for over 30 years. Jeff is well known in the Bikram community and perhaps even more well known in the Iyengar community as he served on the board of directors of the Iyengar Institute of SF, has traveled to India to study with the Iyengar family, studied under the top Iyengar teachers in the world for decades. Jeff has owned and operated several successful yoga studios throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Ry Toast is a dynamic Bikram Yoga teacher and professional DJ, blending a deep commitment to wellness with a passion for music and performance. Known for a charismatic and engaging teaching style, Ry brings the same energy and stage presence developed during her years touring the world as a DJ to every class she teaches.  She has a unique ability to connect with students, creating an electric atmosphere that motivates and inspires.  Ry is the creator of Yoga & Mixtapes, a unique class that perfectly blends the transformative power of Bikram Yoga with the energy and rhythm of music.  When not teaching or DJing, she enjoys spending time with her husband Carl (a fellow Bikram teacher) and their 2 pups, Freddie & Pico.

Funky Door Yoga is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance, which designates this teacher training program as one which follows Yoga Alliance’s standards. Students who complete a verified training with this school may be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYTs).
